ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH
No TLS version or cipher in common
Seen in Chrome, Edge (Firefox: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP)
The server only offers TLS versions or ciphers that modern browsers have retired.
Common causes
- The server only supports TLS 1.0/1.1, which browsers disabled in 2020.
- Only obsolete ciphers (RC4, 3DES) are enabled.
- No certificate is configured for this name (SNI), so the server aborts.
How to fix it
- Enable TLS 1.2 and 1.3 with modern ciphers (Mozilla's SSL configuration generator is a good start).
- Upgrade old servers or put them behind a modern proxy or CDN.
- Check a certificate is bound to this hostname.
