IP info

See where an IP address is, which network and autonomous system it belongs to, its address range type and reverse DNS. Hostnames are resolved first.

What an IP lookup tells you

  • Network: the autonomous system (ASN) and organisation that announces the address, from Team Cymru's routing data.
  • Location: the approximate country and city. IP geolocation is an estimate and is often wrong at city level, especially for mobile and VPN users.
  • Address type: public, private, CGNAT, reserved or documentation ranges.
  • Reverse DNS: the PTR name, if one is set.

Enter a hostname and MtrXTools resolves it first, then looks up each address.

Questions

Can I find a person from an IP address?
No. An IP points to a network, usually an ISP or hosting company, and a rough location. Only the ISP can link an address to a customer, and only under legal process.
Which cloud is this IP on?
Use Cloud IP owner, which checks the official published ranges of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Cloudflare and others, including the service and region.
What does the ASN tell me?
The autonomous system is the network that routes the address on the internet, such as an ISP, hosting company or large enterprise. Abuse reports for an address go to that network's abuse contact, which RDAP shows.
