ERR_SSL_UNRECOGNIZED_NAME_ALERT
The server has no site configured for this hostname
Seen in Chrome, Edge (Firefox: SSL_ERROR_UNRECOGNIZED_NAME_ALERT)
The server ended the TLS handshake with an "unrecognized_name" alert because no virtual host or certificate matches the name the browser asked for (SNI).
Common causes
- DNS points the name at a server, proxy or CDN that has no site or certificate set up for it.
- A virtual host is missing the name in its server_name or ServerName/ServerAlias.
- A reverse proxy in front of the site is not configured for this hostname.
How to fix it
- Add the hostname to the TLS virtual host (nginx server_name, Apache ServerName or ServerAlias) and reload.
- Make sure a certificate covering the name is installed on that virtual host.
- Confirm DNS points at the server or CDN that is configured for this name.
