ECONNABORTED
The connection or request was aborted
Seen in Node.js, axios ("timeout of 5000ms exceeded"), Windows (WSAECONNABORTED 10053)
The request was cut off before it finished: in axios this usually means its timeout fired, elsewhere the local system aborted the connection.
Common causes
- axios reached its timeout setting before the response completed (message "timeout of Nms exceeded").
- The server is slow or overloaded, or a large response takes longer than the timeout.
- A local firewall, antivirus or VPN aborted the established connection.
- The request was cancelled in code (axios "Request aborted").
How to fix it
- Check how long the request really takes and set the timeout above that, or speed up the endpoint.
- Test whether the host and port answer quickly from the same machine.
- Check local security software and VPN if connections drop on one machine only.
